My primary research centers on fish reproductive biotechnology, integrating germ cell and tissue culture methods to improve assisted reproduction and broodstock management of freshwater species. Specifically, my PhD thesis focused on optimizing in vitro systems for fish ovarian follicle maturation to track oogenesis, evaluate oocyte quality and predict outcomes of induced spawning. Beyond ovarian models, I am involved in research projects targeting the conservation of aquatic genetic resources of economically and ecologically valuable species. This includes evaluating gamete quality and optimizing cryopreservation protocols for fish sperm, early-stage germ cells and gonadal tissue, as well as recently extending these methods to invertebrate models such as oyster larvae. In addition, I am actively engaged in lab mentorship, education and student outreach. I provide specialized training in cell culture and histology techniques, contribute to university courses on fish reproduction and supervise undergraduate projects.
