I’m Safiara Nusrat Nova, a Bangladeshi PhD student in Animal Sciences at the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE), currently studying under the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship. My academic background is in Fisheries Biology and Genetics, and my research focuses on comparative genomic and transcriptomic analyses of African catfish to understand the genetic basis of growth, fillet yield, and body composition.
I have experience in molecular biology and bioinformatics techniques, including RNA sequencing, digital PCR, gene expression analysis, and statistical analysis using tools such as R and SPSS. My work integrates genomics with aquaculture systems, particularly recirculatory aquaculture systems (RAS), aiming to improve productivity and sustainability in fish farming.
I am deeply interested in sustainable aquaculture, genetic improvement programs, and the application of advanced molecular tools to address global food security challenges. My research is driven by a goal to develop efficient, science-based solutions that enhance aquaculture performance while maintaining environmental balance.
Outside the lab, I enjoy travelling, engaging with diverse cultures, and creative activities like communication and media work. These experiences keep me adaptable, curious, and inspired both academically and personally.
