Dr. Thomas Juhász-Dóra is a veterinarian and researcher dedicated to aquatic welfare and conservation. Holding both a PhD (University College Cork) and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (Budapest), he uniquely bridges clinical practice with innovative research in aquaculture and fisheries. His pioneering work exploring biofluorescence as a non-invasive tool for assessing stress and disease in marine species (e.g., lumpfish, red king crabs, sea urchins), has been published in Nature’s Scientific Reports. As a Research Fellow, he works towards developing advanced monitoring technologies for aquatic health and welfare, while refining invertebrate husbandry techniques and vaccine/treatment protocols for high value species. His work also focuses on introducing novel species to aquaculture and leading freshwater biodiversity conservation initiatives in the Indian Ocean.
